Void Highlord
Void highlord, despite being in the game for several years now seems to still hold some misinformation around it. It’s a very simple class conceptually, but is a very powerful endgame class allowing you to pretty much solo any game content with it’s high survivability and great DPS.
This guide will mainly go over how to use it, not bothering to make a How to obtain VHL guide yet as it’s been done constantly.
Skills Overview
- Contract
- 125% Physical Damage / 1.25 AP2
- Short Range Auto Attack
- 2.3 second cooldown
- Single target
- If Shackled (2 skill) applies a HoT to yourself for 5 seconds
- If Unshacked (4 skill) applies a DoT to enemy for 5 seconds
In terms of gameplay this just allows user to have extra survivability or extra damage.
- Shackle
- 125% Physical Damage / 1.25 BT3

Shackled Aura is basically your “defensive mode”, providing a fat damage resistance buff. This also increases the HoT you receive from your Auto for extra survivability.
- Highlord’s Gaze

Very strong lifesteal heal, good damage too.

Your “offensive mode” due to strong all out buff, good idea to use this skill before proccing skill 5.

- Applies Arbiter’s Wrath
- Increases your Crit Damage by 75%
- Lasts 12 seconds

- Reduces incoming damage by 50%
- Lasts 12 seconds
- At Rank 10 Sacrifice Soul to Void
- Increases enemy incoming damage by 5%
- Stacks to 10
Fat damage nuke thing yes. Also applies a great amount of offensive and defensive buffs that you can loop. This is important for tanking the harder hitting bosses.
- Undying Highlord (Rank 10 passive)
- From rank 1
- All skills excluding contract (auto) have a chance to give a 30% END boost and HoT
- Bolsters survivability
- All skills excluding contract (auto) have a chance to give a 30% END boost and HoT
- Rank 10 permanent END buff
- Armageddon increases enemy incoming damage by 5%, stacks to 10
- From rank 1
I usually don’t have passives here but just to show there’s additional effects that may be applied, these are mostly bonuses.
Enhancements
Situation | Enhancements | Rating | Extra Information |
---|---|---|---|
Solo | Dauntless/Anima/Vainglory | 10/10 | Can get real low HP then just spam 2 and 5 off cd for big number + sustain. |
Solo | Ravenous/Anima/Vainglory | 10/10 | For harder hitting bosses where you can’t edge or don’t have daunt, allows you to be slightly more offensive in terms of buffs. |
Solo | Valiance/Anima/Vainglory | 7/10 | Good alternative before you get Daunt or Ravenous. |
Solo | Smite/Anima/Vainglory | 5/10 | Decent DPS but a few better alternatives at this stage. |
Gameplay/Combos
Very braindead not a lot of effort but a LOT of value. You can pretty much solo the entire game with it if you understand how the skills work.
For general DPS-ing using Ravenous/Valiance/Smite I like to use 4 before 5 (so you get damage buff before nuking) and spam 234 off cooldown.
So rotation is something like this
2345-234-234-2345
However, if boss hits harder than usual you can probably start with 5, to give yourself the defensive buffs from 5, then carry on as usual.
5234-234-234-2345
In the minority of content where boss hits really really hard you should avoid going into unshackled and just 235. This is to maintain HoT from auto and defensive buffs applied from shackled.
When using dauntless you’re going to be in shackled by default. Use 2-4 to reduce your HP. Then once you’re at like 500 HP, just spam 2 and 5.
